When it comes to mobile text-entry there are two types of people:-
‘multi-tappers’ and ‘predictive-texters’,
particularly on phones that don't offer a full qwerty or touchscreen keypad.
Multi-tap
text entry is obviously slower when compared
against predictive text
entry, however, many people still use it simply because it
is easier to use. ‘Predictive-texters’,
on the other hand, are very adept with that form of text entry,
and have no need to use any other
method.
What
if, however, you found multi-tap
irritatingly slow, but also found
predictive text entry just basically
..irritating?
Anyone that has ever used predictive
text entry is aware of the bizarre,
(sometimes comical) mistranslations that are presented, which then
require deletion, retyping,
respelling or addition as a new
dictionary word.
Despite
the improved text entry speed by
using predictive text, it the
‘back-tracking’ to correct words
that typically slows down the average user.
At
this point - the average person (with
a greater patience than mine), will
either persevere or give up and revert
back to the slow-but-sure multi-tap
method. It would seem that you only
have two choices, multi-tap or
predictive text,
..but what if there was a third
option?
